Building on the overwhelming success of our Burlington to Quebec City bicycle tour, we are introducing a fabulous new point-to-point trip from Canada’s Capital City of Ottawa to French-speaking Quebec’s vibrant city of Montreal. Ottawa is considered the third cleanest city in the world – in part perhaps because of the greater than 110 miles of bike paths that crisscross the city.

Ottawa rolls out its best on Sundays when several major routes in the downtown area are open only to bicycles and pedestrians. Spin through the streets then visit famed Parliament Hill, explore lively Byward Market and the National Gallery of Canada, or cross the Ottawa River to ride the popular Gatineau Park road bike loop – free of vehicular traffic! From your lodging at the charming Lord Elgin Hotel, the city's top sites are at your doorstep, and access to the bike paths along the famed Rideau Canal are just outside the hotel.

As you make your way east toward Montreal, the scenery along the river quickly changes to open farm fields sprinkled with sheep and dairy cows. An exclusive stay at the Fairmont Le Chateau Montebello, a historic hand hewn log lodge, provides opportunity for a mid-tour massage or specialty treatment in their luxurious spa. The next evening a country Auberge spoils you with gourmet cuisine in the French tradition.

Wind your way on bike paths into Montreal, Canada’s second largest city and one of the world’s top cities for cycling with over 300 miles of bicycle paths. Enjoy the restaurants and boutiques of Old Montreal from the chic St-Sulpice Hotel nestled deep within this historic neighborhood. Guided cycling options in the city include a ride on the Formula One Grand Prix race track and a visit to Atwater Market – the iconic farmer’s market that first began in 1933.

This tour is suitable for cyclists who are able to ride 50 miles per day on fairly level terrain. The route follows a combination of bicycle paths and rural routes along the Ottawa and St. Lawrence Rivers. The terrain is a combination of gently rolling and level throughout the trip and is rated intermediate primarily related to mileage on several days.

Routes in both Ottawa and Montreal are fairly level however there are options in both locations for more challenging cycling. Van support is available for those who do not wish to cycle the full route.

Lodging for this tour includes a landmark full-service hotel, a historic lodge, a country auberge, and an intimate boutique hotel.
