Join us for amazing cycling through the Lake Champlain Valley's most scenic countryside. From your lakeside lodging at the renowned Basin Harbor Club, you'll pedal the back roads that helped make Vermont one of the top destinations for bike touring.
You'll have the opportunity to ride with founder, Georgena Terry, on some of her favorite cycling routes. Liz Robert, Terry's new owner and former CEO of Vermont Teddy Bear will also spend a day sharing her passions for Vermont, cycling and storytelling. In addition, you'll be accompanied by two of Sojourn finest tour leaders who will guide you on a most enjoyable and memorable adventure.
Daily route options will be offered for leisure cyclists as well as those seeking more challenging terrain and mileage. The Champlain Valley offers a combination of fairly level and gently rolling terrain however there is plenty of climbing for those who want to tackle some tougher route options. Given the area's extensive network of back roads, you will quickly realize why Vermont is so inviting for bike tours.
Warm-up your legs rolling through pastoral farmland in the valley and enjoy a visit to the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum to learn more about why this beautiful lake is one of the most important bodies of water in our nation's history. Stop to visit the college town of Middlebury and grab a bite for lunch on the town green or at a cafe overlooking the falls.
You'll cross Lake Champlain by private boat and disembark on the New York shore for a spectacular ride through the Adirondack Park to Essex. The charming village of Essex is beautifully preserved and many of the homes and buildings date to the early 1800's and the entire village is on the National Register of Historic Places. Following a picnic in a lakeside park, you'll hop the ferry to return to Vermont and the Basin Harbor Club.
At the conclusion of the bike tour, you'll have the opportunity to meet the Terry staff and shop for cycling gear. Terry product designers will be on hand to answer questions and work with you to address your cycling needs.
